Repealing Obamacare

Docs in Bow Ties on the Fate of Obama Care

As the new administration begins to talk about repealing or changing the Affordable Care Act, known as Obamacare, many people are worrying about what is going to happen to their insurance coverage. While this is something that should concern us, there is something more fundamental that should be considered when it comes to healthcare.  That is the state of our health.

At Flintridge Family Chiropractic we are committed to helping our patients achieve or maintain optimum health, because they deserve to receive care from nothing less than the best chiropractor. In our latest video we discuss our thoughts on the fate of Obamacare, and hope you find this useful when making your own lifestyle choices. Taking Control of your Health

The best insurance is to have a lifestyle that supports optimum health and well being so that the need for insurance takes a lesser role in our daily lives. The Center for Disease Control (CDC) has published statistics that indicate many Americans are at risk for developing heart disease and diabetes sometime in their lives. While there are many factors that contribute to these diseases one thing is certain; healthy people are at far less risk of facing a health crisis than those who are struggling with excess weight or obesity, uncontrolled stress and physical inactivity.

According to the CDC, 610,000 Americans die from heart disease each year, which is an alarming 1 out of every 4 deaths.* They go on to report that 70% of the population over the age of 20 are overweight  and that it is likely that 20% of Americans will develop diabetes during their lifetime.

It is no wonder that we are concerned when there is a potential threat to our insurance coverage. Looking at long term care for conditions such as diabetes and heart disease in light of the grim predictions from the CDC being without coverage or with reduced coverage is a major problem.

But what if the emphasis was put on building health instead of planning for ill health? Diabetes and heart disease aren’t inevitable as we age. Lifestyle changes which concentrate on improving the diet, introducing regular exercise, monitoring the use of alcohol and stress are the best insurance you have to living a healthy, active and fulfilling life.

Risk Factors

Some of the most common factors that can lead to heart disease, diabetes and other chronic conditions are:

  • Overweight or Obesity
  • High Blood Pressure
  • High LDL Cholesterol
  • Smoking
  • Poor diet
  • Inactivity
  • Excessive use of Alcohol
  • Stress

As two of the top chiropractors Pasadena has to offer, we are happy to consult our patients on their best path to wellness whether it is developing a tailor-made exercise program, nutritional and diet plans or strategies for dealing with stress.

We believe that everyone should be adequately covered by insurance so they have access to health practitioners as they need them.   However, we emphatically believe that the best insurance you have to a happy and healthy life is to modify your lifestyle so you do not develop these diseases at all.

Peace of Mind Through Proactive Health

Building health should not be difficult. By making simple changes and being consistent, you will not have to worry about whether your insurance will cover your insulin or a high blood pressure medication.

Some simple changes that can make a big impact on your health are:

  • Eat more organic fruit and vegetables, preferably raw
  • Move frequently through the day – get away from your desk often
  • Drink water
  • Stretch
  • Get enough sleep
  • Exercise

If you implement these changes, a little at a time and consistently, you will not have to worry about preexisting conditions, out of pocket max, co pays and deductibles.
